Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east with no offshore dangers. The bottom is rock with a sand patch of around 80 square metres ringed by posidonia; identify it before dropping and pick a light spot for holding. It is comfortable only when wind and swell come from the same quarter, and an ENE breeze works well. Sheltered from N, W and NW winds by the Corsican mainland; exposed to E and SE, the prevailing swell direction on this coast. Port Taverna 4.5 NM S is the nearest refuge.
Practical
No services at the anchorage. Tender landing on the beach of Figareto. Small shops and restaurants in Moriani-Plage, around 1 km along the coast.
Ashore
Long sand beach of the Costa Verde running several kilometres north and south. The beach restaurant La Caravelle sits behind the sand and turns into a late-night club in season, with loud music running into the small hours, so nights close inshore can be far from quiet. Sentier du littoral of the east coast follows the shore. Inland, the Castagniccia chestnut-forest region begins about 10 km west, with villages such as La Porta and Piedicroce.
