Guide
Approach and anchoring
Long straight sandy coast from Bastia down to Solenzara with no natural shelter. Approach on a west heading from deep water, taking care of the usual swell from the east. Hold off in 4 to 6 metres on sand, dropping on a clear patch as posidonia is reported in places. A rock outcrop lies about 100 metres off the beach and 200 metres north of the point, and a pipeline crosses the area. A snorkelling and diving spot to the north is marked by white buoys, so keep at least 50 metres clear of them. Port Taverna lies 0.3 nm south and is the reliable refuge in any easterly wind.
Practical
Water reported available ashore near the beach. No other services. Port Taverna 0.3 nm south has berths, fuel, water and electricity. Shops and restaurants at Moriani-Plage within walking distance of the beach.
Ashore
Moriani-Plage has a 3 km sand beach running north and south from the anchorage. Costa Verde coastal area. The Castagniccia mountain region and its chestnut forests begin a few kilometres inland, reached by the D34 road from Moriani.
