Approach and anchoring
Straight coastal approach with no outlying dangers, depths dropping gently. Anchor inshore of the yellow buoys marking the 300 m bathing line, on sand in 4 to 8 metres with good holding. Shelter from NW through SW only; fully open to the east, where the prevailing libeccio swell wraps around and any levante makes the anchorage untenable. Even in light airs a slight swell keeps a roll running, so it suits a daytime stop better than a night. Clear out for Bastia or Taverna at the first sign of east wind.
Practical
No services ashore at the anchorage itself. Nearest fuel, water and repairs at Port Taverna 8.7 NM south. Bastia Vieux Port 13.2 NM north for full provisioning. Beach landing by tender on sand.
Ashore
A long pine-backed beach fronts the anchorage, with the Via Luna beach restaurant and L'Osteria behind the strand serving simple evening meals; live music can run late on summer nights. Hilltop village of Castellare-de-Casinca 4 km inland, perched on a spur above the plain, with a Romanesque church. Étang de Biguglia nature reserve is a short drive north, the largest lagoon in Corsica and a Natura 2000 bird site.
