Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the W with no off-lying dangers in the outer bay. Anchor on sand in 4 to 8 m, but the bottom shoals fast and the dark patches near the beach are submerged rock rather than weed, with a reef parallel to one side of the beach and rocky heads close in around 1 m, so pick a clear sand patch. Shelter is good from NE to S and best in an easterly, though it can roll at night and a shifting or southerly wind has started anchors dragging. Fully open to the libeccio from SW and W.
Practical
Forain anchorage with no services. Tizzano has a small fuel berth, a few restaurants and a grocery open in season. Drop the hook on sand in 4 to 8 m, keeping clear of the posidonia patches which are protected by Corsican regulations.
Ashore
A beach restaurant, Chez Antoine, and the Tizza Mare paillote serve on the shore, with a hotel doing breakfast and a small grocery behind Chez Antoine. Land by dinghy at the little harbour of Tizzano or the dock below the hotel. The Mare e Monti Sud coast path passes above the bay towards the Genoese tower of Campomoro, 6 km N, and the Cauria menhir alignments lie 8 km inland.
