Approach and anchoring

Enter from the south between Cap de Feno and Punta di Ventilegne, then run north into the bay. The channel is narrow in places with rocks on both sides, best attempted by day with good visibility. The inner bay is shallow, 1.5 to 2 m near the islet, and littered with old mooring buoys and wrecks close to the water's edge. The bay opens to the south and south-west, so swell can push in when the libeccio blows.

Practical

Forain anchorage on sand and weed. Holding is variable where posidonia covers the bottom, so set the anchor on a clear sand patch. Water tap reported ashore. The small port of Pianottoli-Caldarello 0.2 NM north-west is often full; it works VHF 9 with mooring assistance, keeps its office open to 8pm, and charged around 95 euros for a 13 m boat in July. The Spar supermarket collects crews and brings them back on request by telephone. Fuel and full services at Bonifacio marina 6.3 NM to the south-east.

Ashore

Village of Pianottoli-Caldarello within walking distance, with a bakery, small grocery and a few restaurants. The Tonnara beach and the granite coast of the Bruzzi site, a protected natural area, are reachable on foot along the coastal path.
