Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south by day. Since 2026 yellow buoys mark the limits of the authorised anchoring zone, with anchoring still allowed to the west of the channel. Holding is good on the sand patches, but the posidonia grows over rock, so back down to check the anchor is set in sand. The bottom shoals quickly and charted depths can read shallower than the sounder, so trust the depth gauge on the run in. The north side lies more sheltered. Sheltered from W through N to E, exposed to S and SE; shift to Pianottoli harbour when the southerly picks up.
Practical
No services in the cove. The Spar at Pianottoli-Caldarello will collect crews from the car park east of the beach and run them back with their shopping; call 04 95 71 85 10 to arrange it. Pianottoli harbour 1.7 nm east for fuel and water.
Ashore
Fine sand beach backed by dunes and maquis, with a coastal walk of about 5 km rounding the point from its northern end. Pianottoli-Caldarello with harbour, grocery and bakery lies 1.7 nm east. The wider Commercial Marina of Bonifacio is 7.2 nm south-east. The cove sits inside the Natural Reserve of the Bouches de Bonifacio, which also includes the Lavezzi and Cerbicale islands.
