Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the west in settled weather; the cove is open and unprotected, so come only in calm conditions. A patch of clear sand in the middle of the cove holds well in 5 to 7 metres, with posidonia around it that is protected under French law, so drop on the sand. Yellow buoys mark a 300 metre limit off the beach that must be kept clear of. Even in light airs it can roll from the wash and the swell working in.
Practical
Holding is best on the central sand patch, less reliable over the surrounding weed, so inspect the anchor by snorkel. Sheltered from N through E to S, exposed to W and SW where the afternoon sea breeze builds. A bakery reached by a stairway, a beach bar and a small supermarket are within about 300 metres ashore, with a Total fuel station nearby. Port Tino Rossi in Ajaccio 5.4 nm north for full services.
Ashore
The cove sits within a Natura 2000 marine site, with posidonia meadows and reef fish, and clear water off the sandy beach of Ruppione that is good for snorkelling. The coastal road runs behind the beach and is audible at anchor, and a bakery, beach bar and small shop are a short walk up.
