Approach and anchoring
Approach from the north along the rocky coast of the island. Weed bottom, holding variable, check the anchor has bitten. Keep well off the rocks, where the sea breaks readily. Sheltered from NE, E, S and SE, fully open to the northern and westerly sectors, so it can be used overnight only in settled weather with no wind from the north-west.
Practical
Daytime forain anchorage, no services. Port-Joinville 1.9 nm E is the reference refuge for berths, water, fuel and supplies. Fromentine on the mainland 14.3 nm NE.
Ashore
Coastal path around the Île d'Yeu. Vieux Château, a 14th century ruined fortress, 2 km west along the path. Plage des Vieilles to the south of the island 4 km by road.
