Saint-Jean-de-Losne, where the Burgundy canal meets the Saône, is France's first river tourism port, with yards, haul-out and boat brokers. The Saône is large-gauge from Saint-Symphorien, just upstream, and runs wide and slow past Seurre, Verdun-sur-le-Doubs where the Doubs joins, Chalon where the Canal du Centre leaves, then Tournus and its abbey. At La Truchère the Seille branches off for 39 km up to Louhans through four locks of 30 by 6 metres, with Cuisery and Branges on the way. Pont-de-Vaux, Mâcon and Montmerle end the run.
