Puerto Rico's south coast: Fajardo to Boquerón

14 lieux · Puerto Rico

Start from Fajardo, where Puerto del Rey has more than 900 slips, with the islets of Icacos, Palominos and Cayo Piñeiro for the first nights. Then work west along the south coast: Palmas del Mar, Salinas, a mangrove lagoon with poor holding in mud and a 5 mph limit for the manatees, the Caja de Muertos reserve off Ponce, the cays off Guánica and those of La Parguera, and finally the wide bay of Boquerón with its two entrance channels. A tidal range of 20 to 30 centimetres, and hurricanes possible from June to November.
