Approach and anchoring
The bay is sheltered by high ground to the north and by cays, reefs and mangroves to seaward. Directories quote 3 m in the channel and alongside, but several crews report less, and the Navily data gives a maximum draught of 2.44 m and length of 18 m. The fuel berth entrance is narrow and awkward in the strong afternoon trade wind. VHF 9, channel 72 also quoted. Manatee zone, 5 mph limit.
Practical
Petrol and diesel at the fuel berth. Crews at anchor can pay a small fee for the dinghy dock, showers, laundry, ice, mail and parking. The marina has a 32-room hotel and the Costa Marina restaurant. A supermarket lies a little over 1.5 km away and there is a small chandlery in town. Phone +1 787 824 3185.
Ashore
Seafood restaurants line the Paseo Ladí waterfront, where the Festival Internacional del Mojo Isleño takes place every July. The visitor centre of the Jobos Bay estuarine reserve, in the old Central Aguirre district, opens daily from 8 am to 4 pm.
