Private yacht and fishing club founded in 1941 on Isla de Gatas, joined to the mainland by a causeway at Punta Carenero, beside the port of Ponce and La Guancha.

Approach and anchoring

Enter Ponce bay leaving Isla Cardona and its 1889 lighthouse, still an active light, to port. Yachts at anchor lie off the club in more than 9 m over sticky mud. VHF 68. The Navily data gives a maximum draught of 1.27 m and length of 12.6 m for the berths.

Practical

Members come first and only a few visitor berths are available. Concrete berths with metered water and electricity, fuel berth, showers, cold-water laundry, bar and restaurant, two pools. The club runs a sailing school for children. Phone +1 787 842 9003.

Ashore

The La Guancha boardwalk, 200 m east, was closed after the January 2020 earthquakes and demolition of its damaged structures began in 2026. Ferries to Caja de Muertos leave from La Guancha.
