Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the bay's marked entrance channel. The Zuniga jetty runs roughly two miles offshore from the point and is partly submerged: rocks show at low water but are hard to pick up at high water. Stay well clear of the structure and the Zuniga Shoal to the west.

Practical

Sand and mud bottom, protected from NW, W and SW. The Port of San Diego closed the bay's last free anchorage in 2006, so check current Port rules and permit requirements before stopping. Kona Kai Marina lies 2.3 nm north and Coronado Yacht Club 2.3 nm east.
