Guide
Approach and anchoring
Pass under the Coronado Bridge at its widest span, then turn to starboard and hold the marked channel. The anchorage opens at the corner after about a quarter of a mile, marked by yellow buoys. Shoals lie outside the channel, so stay within the marks. Sand bottom; sheltered except from W and SW.
Practical
A free permit is required. Anchoring is limited to 72 hours, a maximum of 20 boats, and every vessel must carry a holding tank. Glorietta Bay Marina lies 0.2 miles to the west with fresh water. Coronado Yacht Club is 0.3 miles to the north-west.
Ashore
The shops and restaurants of Coronado village are within walking distance. Coronado Municipal Beach, on the Pacific side of the strand, is reached on foot for surfing and swimming. The Hotel del Coronado, built in 1888, stands on the bay's southern shore.
