Approach and anchoring
Lies at the head of Cold Spring Harbor, off Long Island Sound between Lloyd Neck and Cold Spring Beach. Approach depths are good, with deep water close in. Berths are on floating pontoons. Access is for members, with a small number of visitor berths by arrangement only.
Practical
About 50 berths, floating pontoons, maximum boat length around 44 feet. There is 30 amp shore power, fresh water, heads, showers and ice. The club has run as a private organisation since 1962.
Ashore
The Whaling Museum and Education Center is in Cold Spring Harbor village, with shops and restaurants along Main Street. Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery sits about 2 km south on Route 25A.
History
Cold Spring Harbor was a whaling port from 1836 to 1862, with nine ships sailing from here on voyages of up to two years that reached as far as Alaska.
