Approach and anchoring
From Chesapeake Bay, round Stingray Point and head up the Rappahannock to the well-marked entrance of Urbanna Creek on the north bank. The creek bends into a sheltered harbour, holding good ground for blows from any quarter.
Practical
110 berths from 24 to 100 ft, 30 and 50 amp shore power, fresh water, ethanol-free petrol and diesel on the fuel berth. Showers, heads, laundry and Wi-Fi. Travel lift and yard services for sail and power.
Ashore
Town of Urbanna within walking distance: grocery, restaurants and the Virginia ABC store. Urbanna Oyster Festival the first weekend of November draws the largest crowds of the year.
History
Urbanna was founded in 1680 as one of the official tobacco ports of colonial Virginia. The 1766 Old Tobacco Warehouse still stands two blocks from the harbour.
