- Harbour
Marina at the west end of the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks, on the Anclote River in Florida, about 15 minutes from open Gulf water.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Gulf by the Anclote River channel with no bridges on the way in. Floating docks take vessels up to 50 feet. The harbour is sheltered from open Gulf swell.
Practical
Fifty-one wet slips on floating docks with 24-hour access, each with 30 and 50 amp shore power, fresh water and a pump-out. A 429-boat high and dry stack and seven boat lifts complete the storage. There is a fuel berth, and the clubhouse has a bar, laundry, showers and a pool.
Ashore
The Sponge Docks shops and Greek tavernas along Dodecanese Boulevard begin right outside the marina. Founded by Greek sponge divers in the early 1900s, the docks still run sponge-boat trips out the Anclote River.
