Approach and anchoring

Lies on the south side of the Goulet de Brest between Pointe Saint-Mathieu and the Minou. Strong tidal streams run in the Goulet, up to 4 knots at springs, so time the approach near slack. The Plateau des Fillettes is buoyed offshore, give it a wide berth. Keep clear of the main shipping lane used by naval and commercial traffic to Brest.

Practical

Open anchorage on sand, no services. Exposed to the SW swell which wraps round the Pointe Saint-Mathieu. Le Conquet harbour 4.5 nm W for full shelter and shops, Camaret-sur-Mer 5.1 nm SE across the Goulet.

Ashore

Plage de Tréganá is a sand beach with access to the GR34 coast path running west to Pointe Saint-Mathieu and east to Le Minou lighthouse. Abbey and lighthouse complex of Saint-Mathieu at about 3 km, listed site with 11th century abbey ruins and an active 19th century lighthouse.
