Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Iroise sea, with close attention to the drying rocks off the coast and the strong tidal streams of the Raz de Sein area south of the Pointe du Toulinguet. Mixed sand and rock holding: check the anchor has bitten. Exposed to SW swell.
Practical
Anchoring only, no shore services. Camaret-sur-Mer lies 4,7 NM SE with water, electricity and diesel. Camaret Port Vauban at 4,9 NM SE with additional visitor berths.
Ashore
Coastal path GR 34 along the cliffs towards the Pointe de Pen-Hir and the Tas de Pois, 4 km south. Alignements de Lagatjar, a megalithic site of 143 standing stones dating back to the Neolithic, 2 km inland from Camaret.
History
The Crozon peninsula was fortified by Vauban in 1689 with the Tour Vauban of Camaret, listed as a UNESCO world heritage site within the Vauban network since 2008.
