Approach and anchoring

Open-coast approach with no off-lying dangers, clear sand bottom from about 5 m depth. Shelter from W through SW to NW; fully exposed to easterlies and the sea state they bring, as well as to the tramontane when it blows offshore with gusts. Keep clear of the bathing zone marked by yellow buoys in summer.

Practical

No services on the anchorage. The marina of Saint-Cyprien, one of the largest on the French Mediterranean with more than 2 000 berths, is 1.3 NM to the S and offers fuel, water, haul-out and all repairs. Canet-en-Roussillon marina is 3.8 NM to the N.

Ashore

Promenade and beach bars along the seafront of Saint-Cyprien Plage. The contemporary art collections of the Fondation Desnoyer are displayed in the old village 3 km inland. The Étang de Canet-Saint-Nazaire, a protected coastal lagoon with flamingos, lies just north of the beach.
