Approach and anchoring

Great Kills Harbour opens off Raritan Bay on the south side of Staten Island, about six miles south-west of the Verrazzano Narrows. The buoyed channel is best entered from the east, steering for the flashing white Great Kills Light. The harbour is shallow, so check draught against chart 12331.

Practical

Concrete floating pontoons by Bellingham Marine take craft from about 15 feet up to large motor yachts. The yard runs three travel lifts plus a 75-ton lift, with engine repair, fibreglass work, bottom painting and electronics fitting on site. A bathhouse serves visiting crews.

History

The business opened in 1964 as Staten Island Boat Sales and grew into a mid-size yacht dealership for brands such as Viking, Princess and Prestige. It was acquired by the Germain group in 2023.
