Princess Bay Boatmen's Association
- Type
- Harbour
Members' boating club on Lemon Creek at Prince's Bay, on the south shore of Staten Island, New York.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from Raritan Bay through the shallow Lemon Creek inlet. The creek dries in places and best water is found near high water for any reasonable draught. The harbour at Great Kills lies about 2.3 nautical miles to the west for deeper berths.
Practical
About 80 members. Boat slips let to members and non-members at the yard and basin on Seguine Avenue. Clubhouse and a haul-out yard on site. Club fishing contests run through the season.
History
Founded in 1934 by private dock owners, clammers and sport and commercial fishermen working out of Lemon Creek, some of them former members of the disbanded Prince's Bay Yacht Club. Four hundred feet of bulkhead destroyed by Hurricane Sandy was rebuilt in 2014, alongside a dredging of the basin.
