Approach and anchoring
Entered from Lower Bay through the buoyed Great Kills Harbour channel, marked by Great Kills Light, a skeleton tower with a red and white diamond dayboard east of the channel. The club lies on the harbour's south side, with Mansion Marina and Richmond County Yacht Club within 0.2 nautical miles to the south-west.
Practical
Member-owned and run. Members maintain the docks, shore power and haul-outs and operate the travel lift. Joining is by waiting list, which has run to several hundred names with multi-year waits.
History
Founded in 1906 to promote boating on Staten Island. During Prohibition in the 1920s the clubhouse drew drinkers out from New York City to the harbour.
