Guide
Approach and anchoring
Great Kills Harbor is a near landlocked basin of about 3.75 square miles, with a mean low water depth of around 15 feet. It was formed in the 1940s by joining Crooke's Island to Staten Island with landfill, which gives the basin good all-round shelter.
Practical
Moonbeam Great Kills Marina, on Hylan Boulevard, runs the harbour with around 350 summer berths plus winter storage and maintenance. A boat ramp serves trailered craft.
Ashore
Great Kills Park surrounds the harbour, with the Staten Island unit's only lifeguarded swimming beach and a shared path for walking and cycling running the length of the park.
