San Leandro Marina

San Leandro, United StatesSan Francisco Bay
Type
Harbour

Former public marina south of Oakland airport, permanently closed to boating in January 2023 and being decommissioned.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

The 2-mile entrance channel through mudflats has silted to controlling depths below 2 metres at low water. Docks have been removed and the basin is being allowed to fill with sediment by natural deposition.

Practical

No berths or services available. The public launch ramp and the two yacht clubs nearby remain in use. Future redevelopment of the site as the Monarch Bay Shoreline project has been delayed since the developer filed for bankruptcy.

Ashore

Marina Park along the shoreline stays open with the San Francisco Bay Trail for walking and cycling, an off-leash dog area and Monarch Bay Golf Club at 600 m. The closest grocery shop is about 3 km inland in central San Leandro.
