Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Loire at Nantes by going up the Erdre, then through the Quiheix lock which separates the tidal lower Erdre from the canalised upper river. Saint-Martin lies on the right bank just north of Nort-sur-Erdre. No tide above the lock, limited bridge clearance on the Canal de Nantes à Brest.

Pontoons with water and power, capitainerie run by the commune in season. Fuel at Port Mulon 0,4 NM to the S. Shops, boulangerie and supermarket in Nort-sur-Erdre within 1 km.
Ashore
Lac de Nort-sur-Erdre and its leisure base at the Port Mulon site, 0,4 NM to the S, with swimming, pedalos and a waterside café. Voie verte along the former railway line from Nantes to Châteaubriant passes through town. Site abbatial de Saint-Martin, a former priory that gives the port its name, on the eastern bank.
History
Nort-sur-Erdre was a medieval river port on the pilgrimage route to Mont-Saint-Michel. The Canal de Nantes à Brest, begun under Napoleon and completed in 1858, uses the Erdre for its southern section and made Nort a logistics hub for timber and slate traffic during the 19th century.
