Approach and anchoring
Approach by the Erdre from the south. River classified as voie navigable, managed by Voies navigables de France. Speed limit of 6 km/h in the port zone. Air draught under the bridge of Nort bourg restricted, check before passing.
Practical
Pontoons with water and electricity. Pump-out station. Sanitary block with showers. No fuel berth, road tanker possible on request. Houseboat hire bases operate from the quay in season.
Ashore
Centre of Nort-sur-Erdre 400 m from the port, with bakery, supermarket and restaurants on place du Marche. Voie verte cycle path along the old railway between Nantes and Blain passes next to the port. Plan d'eau de la Poupinière swimming lake 200 m to the west, supervised in July and August.
History
Nort-sur-Erdre was the junction point for the canal de Nantes a Brest project opened in 1836, which linked the Loire to the Atlantic via Pontivy. The locks of the Erdre, at Quiheix downstream, were cut to allow passage of commercial barges up to 38 metres long.
