Approach and anchoring

Reached by the Erdre upstream from Nantes, either from the Saint-Felix lock linked to the Loire or by the canal from Nantes to Brest. No tide, but currents of 1 to 2 knots after heavy rain. Air draught limited by the Beaujoire bridge, 8 m clearance.

Practical

Sand bottom, holding good. Water point available on the buoys. Protection from all sectors except NW due to the river alignment. Dinghy landing at La Gandonnière 0.4 NM NW for access to the Carquefou town bus line.

Ashore

Towpath along the Erdre for walking and cycling, linking Nantes centre 12 km SW and Sucé-sur-Erdre 4 km N. The Erdre was called the most beautiful river of France by Francois I in 1532 during his stay at the Château de la Gascherie, a Renaissance manor visible from the water at 1 km upstream.
