Approach and anchoring
Open approach from the south-west. Holding is mixed sand and rock, so drop on clear sand patches to avoid fouling the anchor on the rocky bottom. Sheltered from NW through N to W winds, fully exposed to the south-western libeccio. Port de Sagone lies 0.3 NM NE for refuge if the wind veers south.
Practical
No services at the anchorage itself. Village of Sagone 0.3 NM to the NE with small shops, bakery and several restaurants along the beachfront. Fuel, water and visitor berths at Port de Sagone. Cargèse harbour 4.2 NM to the west as an alternative shelter.
Ashore
Sagone beach runs along the head of the bay, with direct access by tender. Roman archaeological site of Saint-Appien cathedral ruins on the north shore of the gulf, about 1 km from the village. Coastal path north towards the Pointe de Cargèse.
