Approach and anchoring
Approach from the west across the open gulf. The marina lies on the north shore behind a breakwater. Maximum draught 5 m. The gulf is open to westerly winds and swell, anchorage inside the bay can be uncomfortable with libeccio.
Practical
160 berths with water and electricity. Fuel available on the quay. Capitainerie, sanitary block and showers on site. Restaurants and shops of Sagone village next to the harbour.
Ashore
Sandy beach of Sagone along the bay. Genoese tower ruins on the northern headland. Village of Cargèse with its Greek and Latin churches 4.2 nautical miles to the west.
History
Sagone was an episcopal see from the sixth century to the French Revolution. The ruins of the former Romanesque cathedral Sant'Appianu stand 2 km inland from the port.
