Approach and anchoring

Approach is from Shelter Island Sound past the village breakwater. The transient mooring field lies inside the break wall for boats up to 50 feet, with an outer field for larger vessels. The anchorage spreads east of the moorings on mud and sand.

Practical

Holding is reported good over the broad anchorage. Village moorings and dockage are run by the harbourmaster, with the season running 1 April to 31 October; some moorings go first come first served. A launch service works the harbour. Sag Harbor village has full provisions, restaurants and chandlery within walking distance of the wharf.

Ashore

Sag Harbor's Main Street sits a few minutes from the wharf, with shops, restaurants and the windmill on Long Wharf. The Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum recalls the village's nineteenth century whaling fleet, and the village is a regular passenger ferry call.
