Marina on Ring's Island, on the Salisbury side of the Merrimack River, opposite Newburyport in Massachusetts.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Sited near the mouth of the Merrimack, with a short run to the Atlantic. The river entrance off Newburyport is exposed to swell and can break in onshore winds, so time the approach with care. The marina lies on the quieter north bank, upriver of the road bridge.
Practical
Around 4,000 linear feet of dockage with roughly 120 berths, vessels to 60 feet, and 6 moorings. There is water, a pumpout, restrooms, showers, ice and free WiFi.
Story
The marina runs an annual striper fishing tournament that funds the fireworks for Newburyport's Yankee Homecoming festival.
