Approach and anchoring
Reach the Étang de Berre via the Canal de Caronte from the Golfe de Fos. Max draught 2.5 metres at Port Olga. The étang is sheltered from open sea swell but the mistral builds steep short seas on the fetch from the north-west. VHF contact with the harbourmaster before berthing.
Practical
Max draught 2.5 metres on berths. Carteau lies 0.2 NM to the SW and Port Navy Service 0.8 NM to the SW, both useful for technical stops.
Ashore
Central Martigues and its painted bridges about 2 km along the canal, the town is known as the Venice of Provence for its three interconnected districts on the water. Train station to Marseille within the town.
