Approach and anchoring
Enter via the Rance maritime downstream of the Rance tidal barrage lock. Mud bottom. Sheltered from NE, E and SE; exposed to the W and SW sectors that funnel up the estuary.
Practical
Forain anchorage. Centre Nautique de La Richardais lies 0.8 nm W, Port Minic 1.7 nm S for refuge in westerlies. Strong tidal streams linked to the barrage lock cycle.
History
The Rance tidal power station, commissioned in 1966 between La Richardais and Saint-Servan, was the world's first tidal power plant and still regulates the estuary upstream of this anchorage.
