Approach and anchoring
Entrance from the sea through the Grau de Gruissan channel, well marked by red and green buoys. Maximum draught 2,5 m in the channel. Strong cross-current and tramontane gusts possible at the entrance. Speed limit 3 knots inside the harbour. VHF 9.
Practical
1620 berths spread across several basins. Diesel and petrol at the fuel berth. Water, electricity, Wi-Fi on pontoons. Sanitary blocks with showers. Travel lift, boatyard and winter storage on site. Full shops, market, restaurants in the marina and in the old village.
Ashore
Old village of Gruissan around the ruined Tour Barberousse, 10th-century circular layout, 1,5 km from the marina. Chalets of Gruissan-Plage, 1300 stilt houses on the sand made famous by the film Betty Blue, 2 km away. Salt pans of Saint-Martin with visitor centre and flamingo observation, 3 km.
History
Gruissan was a fortified fishing village of the archbishops of Narbonne from the 13th century, controlled by the Tour Barberousse. The modern marina was built in the 1970s as part of the Racine plan for the Languedoc-Roussillon coast.
