Approach and anchoring
Reached from Buzzards Bay through the New Bedford hurricane barrier, a stone barrier with a 150ft gate that closes ahead of storms. Carry on up the buoyed channel into the Upper Harbour, east of the New Bedford to Fairhaven bridge. Approach and dockside depths around 10ft.
Practical
Around 200 berths on 810ft of fixed pier plus over 300 moorings, run by the New Bedford Port Authority. Transient berths kept aside. Power at 30, 50 and 100 amp, fresh water, WiFi, pump-out, showers, laundry and a marine store. Fuel berth on site.
Ashore
Launch service runs to downtown New Bedford and its National Historic Landmark District. The New Bedford Whaling Museum, open since 1903, and the Seamen's Bethel sit within the whaling national historical park, a short walk from the landing.
