Approach and anchoring

The inlet lies on the ocean side of the ICW, north of New Smyrna Beach and about 10 miles south of Daytona Beach. Inlets on this coast shift with weather and current; consult recent local knowledge and the latest charts before entering, and time the passage against wind over tide.

Practical

Holding is on mud. New Smyrna Beach Marina lies 1.5 miles to the south-west and Lighthouse Marina 2 miles to the north-west, both offering fuel and provisions for boats needing a sheltered berth.

Ashore

Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse stands on the north side of the inlet. Built in 1887 and 53 metres tall, it is the highest lighthouse in Florida; the museum and its 203-step climb are open to visitors. Lighthouse Point Park sits alongside it.
