Day anchorage on the Esterel coast south-west of Cannes, sand bottom below the red porphyry cliffs of the Corniche d'Or.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach by daylight only along the Corniche d'Or. Shelter from the N, NE, NW and W, fully exposed to any wind or swell from the E to the SW. Leave at once if an easterly makes up. No navigation lights on the point itself.
Practical
No services on the anchorage. Port de la Figueirette lies 0.8 NM NE for water, fuel and the first shops. Port La Galère is 2 NM NE, residential marina with limited visitor berths.
Ashore
Sentier du littoral runs along the cliff top between Théoule-sur-Mer and Anthéor, reachable by tender through the pebble coves. Massif de l'Esterel tracks climb to the Pic du Cap Roux at 453 m from the inland side. Red porphyry rocks that give the cliffs their colour have been quarried here since Roman times.
