Guide

Approach and anchoring

Open approach from the S. Bottom of sand and posidonia, so drop the anchor on sand patches to avoid damaging the seagrass. Shelter from NW round through W to S. Wide open to E swell and to the ponant wind; untenable in a mistral squall.

Practical

Daytime forain anchorage only, no services. Port de la Figueirette lies 1.4 nm to the N and Port La Galère 2.6 nm to the NE, both with visitors' berths.

Ashore

Red porphyry cliffs of the Massif de l'Esterel drop directly into the water. The sentier du littoral runs along the corniche de l'Esterel and links the coves on foot.

Story

The Esterel porphyry takes its red colour from rhyolite of volcanic origin, around 250 million years old.
