Approach and anchoring
Clear approach from the south along the Giens peninsula. Mixed bottom of sand, rock and posidonia; drop on sand patches only, mooring on seagrass is prohibited under the préfecture maritime Méditerranée order 123/2019. Shelter from N through SE winds; exposed to the west when the mistral blows.
Practical
No facilities. La Madrague de Giens, a small fishing harbour with limited visitor capacity, lies 0.8 NM east. Port du Niel 1.6 NM east offers mooring buoys managed by the Hyères town.
Ashore
Coastal path from the anchorage toward the Tour Fondue in 45 min, ferry terminal for Porquerolles. Salines des Pesquiers nature reserve on the tombolo, birdwatching area with pink flamingos. Village of Giens 2 km inland with shops and restaurants.
