Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Baie de Lannion leaving the Trois Pierres cardinal mark to the east. Drying rocks fringe the headland, keep at least 200 m offshore until bearing on Locquirec church tower. Exposed to N swell, untenable in northerly winds.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no moorings or services. Drying harbour of Locquirec 0.5 nm to the SW for provisioning at low water. Locquémeau harbour 2.9 nm to the NE offers a more sheltered fallback.
Ashore
Grand Hôtel des Bains de Locquirec, built in 1898, setting of the film L'Hôtel de la Plage. GR34 coastal path passes the anchorage, with the sandy beach of the Sables Blancs 600 m to the west.
History
Locquirec takes its name from Saint Kirec, a 6th century Welsh monk. The 15th century church on the headland served as a landmark for local fishermen working the Baie de Lannion.
