- Harbour
Small drying harbour on the west side of the Baie de Lannion, in Trédrez-Locquémeau, northern Brittany.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach between Pointe de Séhar to the north and the rocks off Pointe de Dourven. The harbour dries almost fully, with boats resting on sand and shingle at low water. Enter on a rising tide with local knowledge, as the bay is strewn with isolated rocks. Shelter is best in winds from E through S.
Practical
Mooring buoys and drying berths managed by the local commune. Slipway, water point and a small fisherfolk quay. No fuel. Bakery and small grocery in Locquémeau village, 500 m up the road. Full provisioning in Lannion, 8 km inland.
Ashore
The GR34 coastal path runs directly past the harbour, heading north to the Pointe de Séhar headland within 500 m and south towards the Pointe de Dourven arboretum and its small Art Centre at 1.5 km. Plage de Saint-Michel-en-Grève, a 2 km tidal sand flat, lies 4 km south by road.
History
Locquémeau was a working sardine and lobster port through the 19th and 20th centuries. The chapel of Saint-Kémo above the harbour dates from the 15th century and gave the village its name.
Story
At very low spring tides, the foundations of old fish traps known as gourenno can still be seen on the foreshore east of the slipway.
