Guide
Approach and anchoring
Open approach from the east across the gulf. No specific hazard beyond the usual coastal buoyage of the gulf of Saint-Tropez. Mixed bottom of sand, rock and posidonia; drop the anchor on the sandy patches only. Watch for the Cogolin and Port-Grimaud channel traffic in summer.
Practical
Forain anchorage with no service. Exposed to winds from W through S to SE, only marginal shelter from W behind the coast. Les Marines de Cogolin 0.7 NM W and Port-Grimaud 1.1 NM NW provide full facilities, fuel and shelter when the easterly sets in.
Ashore
Moune beach is public with a seasonal restaurant. Port-Grimaud, the lagoon town built from 1966 by architect François Spoerry, lies about 1 NM north on foot or by tender. The medieval village of Grimaud and its castle ruins are 3 km inland, linked by a bus line to the coast.
