Approach and anchoring
The Waccamaw River carries the ICW from Bucksport south towards Winyah Bay. The river runs deep close to its wooded banks, with cypress-lined side creeks. The mud bottom gives good holding once the anchor is set.

No services at the anchorage. Bucksport Marina lies 1.6 nautical miles south-west and Hans Marina 1.7 nautical miles south-west.
History
Bucksport was founded by the Maine lumberman Henry Buck, who came to the Waccamaw in the 1830s and built sawmills around which the settlement grew.
