Guide
Approach and anchoring
Bull Creek leaves the Waccamaw River, itself part of the ICW, near Bucksport. The mud bottom gives good holding and the creek is well protected on every quarter. The bend farther in has a bluff on the south side that adds shelter.
Practical
No facilities on the creek. Hans Marina lies 2.2 nm north and Bucksport Marina 2.5 nm north for fuel and provisions.
Ashore
Bucksport grew up around the lumber trade, shipping timber as far as New York and Boston. Cruisers treat the Waccamaw and its side creeks as a place to linger, with cypress-lined banks and birdlife along the water.
