Guide

Approach and anchoring

Enclosed basin giving all-round shelter, a common staging point for the crossing to Bimini. Minimum depth is about 3 metres, with 3 to 3.6 metres of water in the anchorage. Holding is in mud.

Practical

Overnight anchoring carries a state park fee, paid at honour stations along the seawall. No more than two boats may raft together. Fresh water is available, along with a free pump-out, restrooms and showers. The Boater's Grill restaurant sits at the head of the harbour.

Ashore

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park covers the southern third of Key Biscayne, with a sand beach, walking and cycling trails, and the 1825 Cape Florida Lighthouse, the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County.

History

The harbour was charted as No Name Harbor when the surrounding land was cleared for development in the 1950s. The development plans failed and the name stuck.
