Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Biscayne Bay, keeping clear of the Dinner Key barrier islands. Anchor in sand with patches of seagrass; under recent city rules, vessels must stay clear of the public mooring field by 300 feet and may anchor no more than 30 nights in any six-month period.
Practical
Dinner Key Marina lies 0.8 mile to the northwest, with a 225-mooring facility for vessels up to 40 feet, fuel and dinghy landing. Coral Reef Yacht Club is alongside it. Groceries, laundry, post office and chandlery are within walking distance ashore.
Ashore
Dinghy to Dinner Key, where the 1934 Pan American Airways seaplane terminal now serves as Miami City Hall, a short walk from the landing. The Barnacle Historic State Park, an 1891 bayfront homestead, is about 0.7 mile north along the shore. Cafes and shops of central Coconut Grove are within 1 mile.
