Approach and anchoring
Approach along the Bandol bay from the south. Anchor clear of swimming areas marked by yellow buoys from 15 June to 15 September. Bottom is posidonia, eco-mooring buoys are installed in summer and anchoring is regulated under the Var posidonia decree. Protection from NW, N and W. Exposed to southerly and easterly winds.
Practical
Port of Bandol 0.3 nm to the west with fuel, water, chandlery, 1,600 berths. Port de la Gorguette 0.8 nm to the SE. Shops, restaurants and the beachfront promenade immediately ashore.
Ashore
Centre of Bandol within 200 m, covered market hall daily except Monday, morning open-air market Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday on allées Jean Moulin. Île de Bendor, 0.4 nm offshore, reached by shuttle from Bandol every 30 minutes, with two museums created by Paul Ricard in the 1950s.
History
Bandol gave its name to a red wine AOC, mainly mourvèdre, granted in 1941 and produced on the terraced vineyards behind the town.
