Guide
Approach and anchoring
Straightforward approach from the south. Sand bottom, good holding. Sheltered from N through SE, exposed to the SW which sends swell straight into the cove. Mistral falls from the hills behind and can gust hard even when the sea looks calm.
Practical
Forain anchorage on sand. Swim zone marked by yellow buoys along the beach, anchor outside. Sanary-sur-Mer harbour 0.6 NM east for a berth, fuel and full services. Port de la Gorguette 0.9 NM NW as a fallback.
Ashore
Portissol beach is supervised in July and August, showers and toilets on shore. Sanary old port and Wednesday morning market a 10 minute walk east along the coastal path. Ile des Embiez and its Paul Ricard marine observatory 3 NM south-west by sea.
