Guide
Approach and anchoring
The lake is the largest natural lake in France at 18 km long. Approach the mooring from the north along the eastern shore. Rocky bottom demands careful anchor setting, hooking on a firm ledge rather than dragging. The Vaudaire, a violent SE squall off the Bauges massif, can rise quickly in the afternoon.
Practical
No infrastructure at the mooring. Conjux harbour 1.7 nm N and Port de Plaisance de Chindrieux 1.9 nm N provide berths, water and fuel.
Ashore
The Canal de Savières links the lake to the Rhône 5 km north via Chanaz, a lockless passage through a listed village. The Abbaye royale de Hautecombe, burial place of the House of Savoy, stands on the opposite western shore and is reachable by dinghy in calm weather.
